I look forward to sharing His Word and love with you praying it will touch your life and draw you closer to our loving Father
Ruby McGuill grew up in Edna, Texas and has always had a love for music and writing. She began writing poetry and studying piano and voice as an elementary student. At ten years old, she gave her heart to Christ and at twelve, Ruby accepted her first position as church pianist at Morales Baptist Church just outside her hometown. She attended Wharton County Junior College before relocating in the Houston area.
Ruby moved back to South Texas and married Grady Pat McGuill in 1987 and joined him in service in the Catholic Church in 1989. After a few short years, they moved to Lexington, Texas where she continued to work in local churches. She has been the accompanist for La Grange First United Methodist Church chancel choir for over 10 years, and for various other congregations in the area. After 26 years, they are excited to have recently moved to La Grange, Texas. Ruby is also a graphics artist for L. W. Stolz Memorials, Inc. in La Grange.
Grady and Ruby have two adult children. Sean is a graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana with a degree in General Studies and a focus on music. Kathlyn is a 2014 graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas where she majored in Sociology with a minor in music.
“One of my greatest blessings was to serve on the music team for a Holy Rosary ACTS Retreat.” It was during her first team retreat in April 2012 that she felt the call to broaden this ministry. “God has opened doors of opportunity and with faith and excitement I will follow in whatever direction He leads. Ruby McGuill Ministries was laid on my heart and God has blessed it by providing bookings and travel to several areas across Texas and Oklahoma.” Ruby shares a music program coupled with some of the stories contained in these pages. Another branch of her ministry is the creation of an inspirational greeting card line displaying original photography, poetry and verse and Ruby is proud to have released her first book in October of 2019.
Ruby Lois (Goldman) McGuill has been part of our lives for over 35 years. I first met Ruby as a 13 year old when I was called to lead the music at a small Baptist church in rural Texas, in 1977. She was all we had for a pianist and in order to have music of any sort, Ruby had to play. I don’t remember how long this petite junior high student had been taking lessons but she definitely was still learning to play the piano. The first thing we did was select a Christmas cantata called “His Love Reaching” by Bill and Gloria Gaither, which was far from easy. Well, Ruby turned off all her extracurricular school activities and focused totally on mastering this difficult cantata, which she did to the Glory of God!
I watched Ruby grow from a child to a mature Christian woman and continue to serve the Lord with her life and talents. Her ministry today is Spirit led and dynamic. Now she is producing and performing her own musical presentations to the Glory of God! I do not have the words to express how blessed and proud I am to have been part of God’s process to refine Ruby and bring her to this point! Ruby’s program will bless you and your congregation immensely…some perhaps for eternity.
